Which adjective to use: ’continuous’ and ’continuing’, when they precede nouns?

They have slightly different meanings. ’Continuous’ means without break or stop. Example: It is a continuous diet that caused her weakness and loss of vitality.
Whereas, ’continuing’ derived from the verb ’continue’, so, puts emphasis on action and describes it in process. Example: The continuing war brought despair to weary citizens.
